As you may have noticed, ICECREAM, is now being called the Copper Island Fishing Retreat. If you would like to know anything about future fishing retreats at Copper Island, contact the new retreat staff worker, Aaron Otis.
Over the course of time, many people joined the chorus around the campfires, roasted marshmallows, told tall tales, and were touched by God. My two sons’ still have memories of the early ICECREAM gatherings that will last a life time. My son Joel still believes that fish don't bite until nine, and it was a waste of time to be out before daylight bouncing in my old friend’s boat (Jerry Sebranke).
There is one undeniable truth that seems to rein in my life, "everything is subject to change"; ICECREAM is no exception to that rule. Many years ago, I coined the phrase "ICECREAM" (the International Christian Edification Conference Restoring Enthusiasm Around Moisture) and began a journey that I have enjoyed immensely. Of course the heart of the ICECREAM movement began with my relationship with Dave and Inger Logelin. Over the years the relationships have stayed solid, but circumstances have changed, and I will no longer be leading the fishing retreat. A fresh perspective may breathe some new life into the retreat, and cause a few more fishermen to enjoy the event. I will be behind the scene helping Aaron where I can, and I may even see some of you around the campfire. Be assured, if you see me, I will be in the "Fishing Mode" and won't be tucking any of you in bed, weighing in your fish, or collecting funds.
To all of the friends I have made during the years of ICECREAM, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for letting me serve you in this fashion. I will leave you with this simple thought "It's not the destination, it's the ride"
Your Servant,
Kenny Vickers “the former Mr. ICECREAM” |
